Ololade
Ololade, known as Lola, and her production crew with the African Students Association at Howard University made a fashion break-through this year. Not only did they organize an amazing fashion show at Howard, but they also saved lives while doing it!
Howard University held their fifth annual fashion show, "Nya Ntsee" at the end of February. The production crew selected Nothing But Nets as this year's charity to receive a percentage of the event proceeds! The show, part of D.C. fashion week, featured six African designers with cutting-edge fashion.
Lola put in hours of work coordinating with the Nothing But Nets team to make sure that Nothing But Nets was highlighted as brightly as possible during the show. During a lunch reception the day of the show, Lola spoke about Nothing But Nets and welcomed Kevin Starace, UN Foundation Health Officer, to talk more specifically about the campaign and his experiences in Africa. At the event, Nothing But Nets set up a booth to educate attendees about the campaign, pass out palm cards, and take donations. The Nothing Buts Nets PSA played during intermission and the banner was right by the stage! Nothing But Nets team members were also interviewed by D.C. public television.
Thanks again to Lola for all of her hard work! The fashion show was a huge success with over 1,000 tickets sold. And thanks to the production team for including Nothing But Nets in the show and sending nets and saving lives!
