A few months ago, we asked for your help in achieving a big goal: sending 150,000 anti-malaria bed nets to refugees in Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia. Due to the drought, famine, and conflict throughout the Horn of Africa, new refugees are arriving in camps each day. Malaria is a leading cause of death among refugees; they need food, water, shelter -- and nets -- to survive.

So many of you did your part to help! From faith-based organizations to celebrities, net manufacturers to attendees of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, thousands of people and partners worked to help us meet (even exceed!) our goal of sending 150,000 insecticide-treated bed nets to refugees in the Horn of Africa -- and those nets will make a huge difference toward keeping families in camps healthy.

Our friends at the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) told us this about the nets you've sent:

"The insecticide-treated bed nets you’ve donated will go a long way toward improving conditions in the Dadaab refugee camp and others throughout the Horn of Africa, especially for vulnerable groups like pregnant women and children under the age of five years old. Given the high rate of malnutrition in the camps, these groups have low levels of immunity and are at a greater risk of developing serious complications of malaria."

They also sent along these beautiful photos of your nets in action. Check them out!

We've said it before -- but we want to say it again: Thank you. On behalf of our Nothing But Nets team, campaign partners, Champions, and -- most of all -- the families who receive these nets, thank you for everything you do to send nets, save lives, and spread the buzz about the fight against malaria.

HIV help

In the world we should spread the awareness regarding causes of the HIV. We should have to give sympathy to the HIV patients. We would make much protection against the sex, not generate the country revenue from the sex workers. My humbly sympathy for HIV patients in the world. Arvind Singh Negi, India

I am glad to know that UN FOUNDATION COMPAIGN for nets did succeed its target. It more than joy for me . I am proud to be the partner of this foundation individually, recently. I am also working hard to make INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WELFARE ORGANIZATION a viable and sustanable global anti-poverty,human welfare and charity institution beneficial to disadvantaged and marginalized populace of the globe, through the creation of cooperative and coordinated network of all Students , Ex-students and philanthropists from grass roots levels till international level and vice versa. But I need an initial Endowment Fund, to organize, manage and control it (I.S.W.O.),professionally, so that more compaign of this sort could be designed and implemented globally .I will appreciate if any one can grant or contribute the needed fund.

Paypal, I think, would increase your contributions considerably. I tried to contribute before Christmas but it was such a hassle, for whatever reason, with my credit card, that I never did. I use paypal for most everything; Anyway, it is just a thought. (I went to contribute to another cause just the other day, another hassle, no paypal and I ended up giving up again.) Just something you might consider.
