The UN Foundation has been working with the UN to fight malaria for years. But it was a column that Rick Reilly wrote about malaria in Sports Illustrated--and thousands of letters and donations from people like you--that led to the creation the Nothing But Nets campaign.
The reaction to Reilly's 815 words made clear that thousands of people were ready to help the million children dying unnecessarily each year of malaria. And so Nothing But Nets was born.
Already, groups as diverse as the NBA and the United Methodist Church have joined the campaign. Now, we're asking you to help spread the word about Nothing But Nets, and how easy it is to protect children from malaria with bednets.
You can save a family. Your church, school, or team can save a village. Together, we can cover Africa with lifesaving bednets.
Fund raising for malaria in Afria
Dear All,
the global leaders on health still faces another challenges of malaria burden. The recent conference on global health identified lack of medical workers about 4millions laccking worldwide and 1 million peple in Africa. The international communities, donor UN and other investers in health did not commit themselves in raising resoucres for the health projects. We need to engage the government, local authrites to consider health as priorities. If we are to meet the MDG the global leaders have ti reach consensus interm of human reources development, financial resources to support the polices.
As we move close to 25th April world malaria day,the president Donna Orenda WNBA said Last year, I was amazed to learn how devastating malaria is to women and children in Africa. Malaria is the number one killer of children under five in Africa and every 30 seconds a child dies from malaria. Each day, 25 million pregnant African women risk severe illness and harm to their unborn children from a malaria infection.
We need to join hands in support for malaria bet net fund raising campaign for Africa.
I call the donors, investor and private sector to support this campaign .You investment on humanity is the gift of nature that you will be remembered for. Lets spread the voice of the voiceless women and children in Africa who are marginalized and liver under extreme poverty.Pregnant mothers and children need protection, resources for malaria treatment, human resource development and training. We have to reach global consensus before 25th April2008.Let the international communities ,UN,multilateral donors, private individuals to honor the promises for the African people.
