Thank you for joining Nothing But Nets, the global campaign to save lives by preventing malaria. When I learned that a million kids die each year of malaria, I wrote a column asking people to give $10 for malaria bed nets. I started to get letters. And checks. Already, more than 70,000 people have raised over $20 million – enough to buy 2,000,000 nets.

It’s a simple, life-saving solution, and a $10 donation is all it takes to buy a bed net, distribute it to a family in Africa, and explain its use. Your donation to the Nothing But Nets campaign will help save a life.

Nothing But Nets is powered by passionate people and communities – school groups, sports teams, religious institutions, book clubs, alumni associations, and more. We are excited to have you on the Nothing But Nets team! Thank you for getting involved and for sending nets to save lives.

Malaria has been put on notice

Rick, While my family spent a year near Ndola, Zambia we witnessed malaria first-hand. Our son (then 11,) had it four times in Africa and once shortly after we got back. We were fortunate enough to afford medication and have the transportation available to get to the clinic on time. I still remember his being so weak I had to hold him over the toilet to vomit. I can’t tell you what went through this father’s heart to experience this. But our son lived. Our housekeeper’s daughter was not so lucky. Beth, her mother, believed that her daughter had gotten better from her being sick, as many parents do. As you may already know, symptoms sometimes alternate on two days, off two days as the parasite has entered the blood cells and is multiplying, waiting to unleash an even bigger dose of the disease as blood cells burst. As Beth’s daughter went into the next time of symptoms, Beth hurried to get her daughter to the clinic, but she died in her arms on the way. Truly, these are more than just statics- these are children with a name. This 4 year old girl’s name was Tasha. I prayed over her grave, in the middle of long rows of children’s graves, with a toy or baby bottle on each grave. It doesn’t have to be like this anymore. They need nets. We will help. Malaria has been put on notice. Thank you for your voice. Pastor Daniel ‘Harley’ Helm

Hi Rick, I'm just reading "Hate Mail From Cheerleaders" and read the "Nets" article. I was instantly inspired, so I put down the book, came to the computer, and sent in my $20, plus another $17 to match the cost of your book. I usually don't give to causes, but this is so simple and critical that I couldn't pass it up. Keep up the great work (and I don't just mean writing awesome articles.) Steve Behm Beavercreek, OH
