HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Send a net, save a life. It’s easy, right? So, how exactly do you get involved? What if you want to do more than make a donation? We need your help to spread the word that a $10 donation can save a life. We want to make it easy to get your friends, family, and community involved in Nothing But Nets.
Here’s how to get started:
Check out the rest of www.NothingButNets.net
- Send a net:donate directly through the secure contribution form
- Join an existing Nothing But Nets team or start a new one-- www.NothingButNets.net has all the resources you need to get up and running
- Download materials (posters, flyers, media advisories, letters to the editor, and more)
- Read about what others are doing and share your story.
Recruit Team Members
- Use your networks: send messages and announcements about Nothing But Nets to your friends and family through netraiser
- Link to us on your Facebook and MySpace page.
- Go to meetings of any groups that may support Nothing But Nets and educate them about the effort. Local religious institutions, clubs, and community service groups are great options
- Create flyers and distribute them at events, meetings, classes, etc.
- Display a poster at a local café, community center, student union,YMCA, etc
Hold Regular Meetings
- Once you’ve gotten a team together, start a series of regular meetings either in person or online
- Use these opportunities to educate your team, inspire and renew enthusiasm in the effort, check in on progress and share successes!
Get Some Coverage
- Use the template media advisory, letter to the editor, drop in article, and media tips to promote your events.
- Secure donated ad space in local media: local publications, school newspapers, church bulletins, and team newsletters are great places to place the Nothing But Nets ad.
Start Fundraising
There are many innovative ways that you can drum up support for Nothing But Nets:
- Add links to your blog and MySpace or Facebook pages
- Put together a yard sale
- Create a viral email campaign
- Organize a concert with local musicians
- Hold an auction with items donated by a local business
- Have a bake sale
- Organize a 5K race
- Put together a charity formal, theme party, and/or night out at a bar
- Hold a movie night
- Get your university involved
- Have a dance-a-thon
- Come up with your own great idea!
