Sudan

Together with UNHCR, we have identified 8 camps in the eastern region of Sudan with the highest number of deaths from malaria and most immediate need for bed nets for its refugees.  Many people only hear or read about the violence in the Darfur region, but Eastern Sudan has problems of its own, and feels the effects of a strained relationship between Ethiopia and Eritrea. The two countries have been at odds with each other ever since Eritrea gained independence from Ethiopia in 1991.

STATUS: Camps covered.
