Host an Advocacy Event

Host an Advocacy Event

Nothing But Nets champions host advocacy events in order to get their wider communities involved in the fight against malaria. By educating others and demonstrating wide support within your community, city or state for the fight against malaria, you can play a major part in ensuring that U.S. funding for malaria prevention and treatment remains a priority.

For example, Ukachi Emeruwa organized a 5K event in Boston, where she had participants sign a letter to Sen. Elizabeth Warren encouraging the Senator to support U.S.-funded malaria prevention and treatment efforts. And university students like Bella Merritt and Emily Rothstein, who are part of the Malaria Fellows program through Nothing But Nets and the Union for Reform Judaism, hosted “Cupcakes for Calls” events; they rallied together dozens of students in order make calls and send e-mails to their members of Congress to advocate for strong U.S. support for malaria programs and the work of UN agencies like UNICEF and UNHCR.
