Grab your sneakers and race with Georgetown!
Georgetown University students -- undergraduate, graduate, and medical alike --have teamed up with the UN Foundation and Nothing But Nets, literally, in a race against malaria! The students, with the guidance of Dr. Daniel Lucey, MD, MPH, are working to hold various events on campus and in the District of Columbia to help raise funds for Nothing But Nets to send long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets to Africa. The events will kick off with a 5K race this Saturday, March 29th, and will culminate to a symposium on the Georgetowm campus in Gaston Hall on April 25th -- World Malaria Day.
The race will course through the Georgetown campus and the trails surrounding it. Registration begins at 9:00 AM at Red Square with the first 50 individuals to register receiving a free t-shirt! Each runner, with a registration fee of $10, will be funding one bed net and its distribution within a community in Africa. For more information, send an e-mail to info@nothingbutnets.net.
