Nothing But Nets Comes to Indianapolis!
HEY HOOSIERS!
Nothing But Nets wants to thank everyone in Indianapolis for coming out to our events for the City Tour! We had great turnout and thanks to our partners - Jonas Brothers, Indiana Pacers, Indiana Fever, and the United Methodist Church - our activities were a hit for all those who attended.
From July 23-24, 2008, Nothing But Nets held a series of events in Indianapolis to raise awareness about malaria and spread the word about our Campaign. With numerous events and gatherings, there was no better time to get involved, send a net, and save a life! Check out what happened below, and read our blog recap of the City Tour.

This youth event at Conseco Field House featured health experts, campaign partners, and players from the Indiana Pacers and the Indiana Fever, including Sam Perkins, Darnell "Dr. Dunk" Hillman, and Bernadette Ngoyisa. Kids from local youth groups learned about malaria prevention through fun activities and workshops, including a game of knockout with the players.

Jonas Brothers Concert
Wednesday, July 23
As a kickoff to our work with the Jonas Brothers through their Change for the Children Foundation, Nothing But Nets hosted a booth during the brothers’ Indianapolis concert, and gave away wristbands and posters to fans after the show.
In-Arena Event with the Indiana Fever
Thursday, July 24
The Indiana Fever faced off against the Minnesota Lynx and spread the word to their fans about Nothing But Nets and malaria prevention.
Connect with Local Supporters
The tour may be over, but we encourage you to keep connecting with your NET-work in the greater Indianapolis community about the issue of malaria. Invite them to an event you are attending, start a Netraiser team together, or simply inform them about malaria prevention. Family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, teammates…Everyone is game when it comes to spreading the buzz!

As part of the Nothing But Nets City Tour in Indianapolis, we also held an additional event in the city:
Faith Leaders’ Event
Thursday, July 24
Nothing But Nets spent a morning with United Methodist and inter-faith leaders to pray for children and families who suffer from malaria and discuss the current issues and threats posed by this disease. United Methodist leadership, including Bishop Coyner and Bishop Bickerton, hosted a breakfast focused on opportunities for United Methodists and people of other faiths to get involved in Nothing But Nets and the fight against malaria, and highlighted local congregation and supporter efforts.
Nothing But Nets National City Tour Background
Last year, the Nothing But Nets campaign traveled to ten cities to encourage business leaders, city officials, faith leaders, students, athletes, youth, and sports fans among others to raise awareness and funds for the fight against this deadly disease. The first year of the city tour culminated in New York City on April 25, 2008 – the first-ever World Malaria Day. Nothing But Nets is now entering the second year of its city tour, targeting new cities to work with local communities to build momentum for the global effort to fight malaria.
