With March Madness in the air, what better time to hold a fundraiser for Nothing But Nets? That was the thinking of Joleen Willis, who organized a youth sporting event to raise money and awareness for Nothing But Nets at the local high school in Alexandria, Pennsylvania.
Joleen and area youth gathered for a night of net sports, playing basketball and volleyball. Participants got sponsors prior to the event, and local businesses–including Dick's Sporting Goods and the local cinema–donated prizes for those that raised the most money.
In the end the fundraiser was a huge triumph, raising over $1,000 for Nothing But Nets! With the matching funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, their efforts will send 200 mosquito nets to Africa! Two participants in particular had especially strong achievements, with Erica Brechbiel and Ben Irvin raising $173 and $166, respectively. Congratulations to everyone involved for a great night and a great performance!
