Thank you to all the Champions who raised their voices in support of life-saving global malaria programs as part of our virtual Advocacy Day on September 14th!  Because of your efforts, Meetings with Congress were a massive success! 108 Champions representing 36 states held 84 meetings with Congressional offices, advocating for full funding for the President’s Malaria Initiative and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria.

As Congress continues to negotiate the FY24 funding, our commitment to advocating on behalf of life saving malaria programs brings together U.S. constituents and international activists alike to demonstrate support and it reminds Congress of the United States’ global leadership.

We know the fight against malaria is getting harder. Insecticide and drug resistance hamper elimination efforts and require a robust research, development, and innovation agenda to stay on track. Extreme natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies threaten to expose more people to malaria-carrying mosquitoes, and a doubling of the population in some of the most malaria-burdened regions requires a redoubling of efforts to keep pace.

Funding for the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria helps to address these challenges. With so much at stake, the persistence of our advocacy continues to build bipartisan support for vital malaria programs.

Together, we sent a resounding message to Congress that the fight against malaria is a priority in their communities across the country. Thank you for helping to strengthen Congressional support in the fight to Beat Malaria!
